Happy Birthday

Happy Birthday to what would have been

the 72nd birthday of Elvis

just wish i could have seen Elvis in concert, he was one sexy man!
when we went to Knoxville, Tennesse i got so excited thinking we could just call to Memphis and go to Graceland, little did i know that it was just to far away to nip to! So for all of those that have either seen Elvis in concert or been to Graceland i envy you.

I have a friend who had a dad that the spitting image of Elvis. Seriously.
I can't believe the legoins of fans that he still has after all of these years. My aunt sent a condolence card to his family after he died, and she got a letter back from Priscilla. That's her big claim to fame...

I've driven right past Graceland twice, but didn't stop. Someday maybe. It's so commercialized, it's kinda sad.

I've seen Graceland from the street, but was kind of put off by the big visitor's center on the other side of the road, and the fact that you can't drive up to the house, you have to take the shuttle-bus. Graceland is actually a bit smaller than I expected, and more tasteful.

I was in Tupelo, Miss back in Dec '05 and I got to see the 2 room house he was born in. Actually I'm drinking coffee out of my Elvis mug right now, lol. I've also driven by Graceland twice but never was inside.

you know what?I remember ,like it was yesterday when I learned of his death.I was 13 years old, and we were all at the supper table table when the newsman announced that Elvis Presley was found dead in his Memphis home. The fork dropped on to our plates..then there was silence of disbelieve, I got up and ran into the living room and stayed glued to the tv screen.A nd just cried and cried,I loved that guy so much, he was soooo cute and sexy, Hey I was 13 years old ...I wasn't blind..He was and still is one of my favourites singers in the world.
And yes "What if? and who would he be today?) Thank you Elvis, for what you did share with us before your death, may you rest in peace and Happy 72nd birthday....

Graceland is smaller than expected. As far as tastefull... maybe from the outside. All-in-all it is the poor-white-trash-done-good one would expect.

I completely loved it!

For some reason, just like I can remember where I was and what I was doing the day Kennedy was shot, or the Space Shuttle exploded, or the Oklahoma City bombing, or the Twin Towers falling...I remember where I was and what I was doing the day Elvis died. I never saw him in concert but my friend did in Hawaii. Does that count?

I'll throw you one better, my band and I went into Sun Studio last Friday night and we mixed and mastered some of our songs there. Got free reign of the place, and I picked up and goofed around with "Elvis's historic microphone" I'll post a pic soon if it doesn't look too bad :)
Other than that, being in Memphis I've never set foot in Graceland. I'm not that huge on E--but my sis has had a major Jones since she was like 12.
