Christmas Hoopla
Gawilli has 'tagged' me, she would like me to share my Christmas Hoopla: 12 random things about Christmas. And Me! Gosh this will be hard, might not make it to 12 so best get cracking on this one then!
- As a child I was a 'searcher', would look all over the house trying to find hidden presents, I have even cut along the sellotape to peep inside to see what they were, how bad am I, well how bad was I as I don't do it now, no honest I don't!
- One Christmas when the lad was about 5, he woke up and joined us for breakfast in bed, he had forgotten it was Christmas Day, we let him eat his toast, get washed and dressed and even suggested what we could do for the day! Those were the days!
- I love snowmen, my tree has a snowman on the top, no angel, no star a snowman! When it snows I love making snowmen, yes even now at my age, with no children at home I will still go and make me a snowman!!! Told you I was mad!
- Another Christmas I ran into the lad's room few days before Christmas shouting 'He's been, he's been Santa has been', hehehe the excitement on his face, mind you he was 13 at the time, I just needed to get him up! Good job my boy has a good sense of humour!
- Haven't cooked a Christmas dinner in three years! Alas this year I am cooking, but just for me and himself, and I am really looking forward to it, I think!!!!
- Love going to the Family Carol Service at church, and I try and get my friends to come along too. One year there were about 10 of us and I did Jacket spuds, only thing is I put them in the oven before we went to church, no I mean a few hours before we went to church, I enjoyed the skins, not much of the potatoes left, but the skins mmm. Have never lived this one down!!! Any one for jackets?
- I found out Santa was not real when I was 4, so was determined to keep the wonder of Santa for as long as possible for the lad. What age did he get too?! 9, yes 9, and how did he find out the truth?! His bloody mum told him, well please he was 9! He looked at me, went off to his room for a while, came out with red eyes and said "Mum is he really not real?" I felt so guilty, so bloody guilty, but he had a great run didn't he? It might not have helped that the previous year he wanted something that we couldn't get, so we bought him a construction vehicle set, and I got a friend to write him a letter from Santa saying he was sorry he couldn't' get him the one he wanted but he hoped this one would make up for it! He loved it, in fact still got some of the cars, well they will be going to the little fella soon.
- I still put these on the tree every year, the decorations the lad made.
- Some of my favourite tree decorations are these, my lovely mum made them, and the card too, it goes out every year.
- We searched for years looking for these Doves (the bird of peace), ever since himself saw Home Alone and they exchanged the two doves he wanted to do the same. We eventually found a box of 3 in Chester one year. So we exchange the Doves on our wedding anniversary and place them on the tree. The third Dove is with the lad.
- Only ever had a real Christmas tree once, was very impressed that the needles didn't fall off too much over the Christmas season. But when I took it down, I dragged it through the lounge door and every single pine needle fell off!!! I was still hoovering up those damn things at Easter!!
- As Gawilli says Every Christmas is Special, but don't forget what Christmas is really all about, try and take a moment or two to remember. Enjoy your Christmas, I know I will enjoy mine.

Well I enjoyed this Gawilli, thank you. I know everyone is busy getting the last minute shopping in, baking, cleaning, keeping the children calm, but if you fancy sharing your 12 please let me know as I would love to see what you have to say.
