On Holiday but going nowhere!

Well for the first time in years I am on holiday but not going away!!

I finished work this thursday at 9am and I am not back at work for ten whole days, yipee!!!!!

Thing is what do I do with all that free time, I mean I can only walk the dog so much, I can only do so much cleaning, have got no DIY to do and nothing needs decorating!

But I bet you the time will fly by and before I know it I will be setting my alarm for that 5am wake up!
Well as I will not be going away I thought that through the week I would post a few photos of previous places I have visited.

This is a photo of 'The Angel of the North'

The 208-tonne “Angel” basically takes the form of a human figure based on artist Antony Gormley's own body.

At 20 metres high, the Angel is higher than a five-storey building. Its wings are 54 metres wide - almost the same as a jumbo jet.
Overlooking the A1 at Gateshead, at least 90,000 motorists a day will pass by the sculpture. Rail passengers travelling on the East Coast mainline from London to Edinburgh will also see the angel as they approach Newcastle.
It is made of weather resistant steel, containing copper, which forms a patina on the surface that mellows with age.
Below the structure are massive concrete piles 22 metres deep anchoring it to the solid rock beneath.
The body is hollow to allow for internal inspections with an access door high up on a shoulder blade.

It is built to last for more than 100 years and withstand winds of more than 100 miles per hour.

So there you have photo number one taken on a five day holiday to Whitley Bay.

Wow! I hadn't seen or heard of the Angel of the North. Cool.

Enjoy your holiday. It's kind of nice to not have anything to do sometimes.

Just spend time with the Mister. Is he home, or is working? Take one day car trips, visit the handsome grandbaby, watch cheesey movies...Do you knit or sew? I bet that you'll enjoy every minute off, even if you don't really do anything.

apparently it is one of, if not the most seen pieces of art i europe, being as it is in easy viewing from a motorway that runs by it's side!
thousands a day go past it!

and can anyone tell me who designed the "bang" thing thats outside the city of manchester stadium? the artists name and the real name of the thing escapes me. you know the one, that's all spikey and whathave you!

On holidays with just you...sounds like fun! I have also not hear of the angel of the north but I hope that as people see it, they will be spiritually minded for a minute or two. Thanks so much for sharing and enjoy your time off!
