Floods in Sheffield

these are photos from the local paper, the Sheffied Star, of the floods we are having in Sheffield. We have had more rain this month, well these last two weeks, then has ever been recorded since 1815!

I am very lucky as we live at the top of a hill, roads around us are shut due to the floods, transport is limited, last night, mon, people were stranded at work and in their cars whilst traveling home.

Part of the M1 motorway is now shut as a dam is likely to burst, 250 homes have had to be evacuated.

That's scary! How lucky for you that you are at the top of the hill.
Is flooding common in that area? I hope that the rain stops soon.

For a change I'm glad I live in Scotland! We've only had localised flooding in the past which is nothing compared to these photo's. How awful. I hope it's not long till things are back to normal. Wonder how much this will cost the insurance companies!

Been a wierd year so far weather-wise!

Looks pretty bad. I'm glad yu're on a hill. We're having record rainfall in some parts of the U.S. that don't usually get a whole lot - such as Texas. Oklahoma is getting a lot of rain, too.

If you see an old man building a big boat and animals going by, well... get chummy with the boat builder.

Holy cow! Stay safe! Hope you don't have to get out for any reason until the water receeds.

it rained at the beach trip this weekend... but it was misty rain mostly.

Get out your arm puffys and wear them so we don't have to worry about you. OKAY?

I am glad that you are all right. As shown in your pictures, water can be such a destructive force. Take care. I hope that the weather is clear for a few weeks.

OMG! Thank goodness you're ontop of a hill. I had no idea. I've lived in places that flood like that and it is always so scary. I watched a house floating down the river once.

Be safe!
