Music - 1979

I got me tagged by http://www.djkirkby.blogspot.com its a music tag, so here are the rules.

  1. got to http://www.everyhit.com/ or http://www.popculturemadness.com
  2. pick the year you turned 18
  3. get nostalgic over the songs of the year
  4. write something about how the songs affected you
  5. pass it on to other music loving bloggers

Gloria Gaynor - I Will Survive
Members - The Sound Of The Suburbs
Meat Loaf - Bat Out Of Hell
Queen - Don't Stop Me Now
Elvis Costello & The Attractions - Oliver's Army
Pretenders - Stop Your Sobbing
Real Thing - Can You Feel The Force
Donna Summer - Heaven Knows
Cars - Just What I Needed
Bee Gees - Tragedy
Chic - I Want Your Love

So the above are a selection of hits that where out when I was 18, I have chosen the month of my birthday too!

The list was long but my god there were songs on there I had never heard, well I might have but it’s probably an age thing and I have forgot them! Funny how you don’t forget the good songs though, the classic, such as Meat Loaf and Queen!

People who I also enjoyed listening to include Elton John, Meat Loaf, Elvis and of course I have to say it before a few of you post comments CLIFF! Gosh another one here David Soul yeah I know I am going to regret that one!!!!

1979 was also the year I met my man, himself, so it was a good year for me, maybe not for him ha ha ha!!!! We used to listen to the Commodores and I remember Boomtown Rats had ‘I Don’t Like Mondays’, this was bought for me by himself, he also bought me Michael Jackson’s ‘Ben’ cause I loved that song but not the fact that is was about a RAT!

Well you know we all have a ‘song’ yes that ‘song’ the one we call ‘our tune’ well ours was ‘Bright Eyes’ from the film Watership Down, we had our first slow dance at The Trade of Jacks nightclub in Blackpool 6th April 1979! Was married the same year in Dec and no it wasn’t a shot gun wedding!

Bloody hell DJ Kirkby you have brought back a lot of memories with this tag thank you, mmm I think lol!!!

Well I won’t tag anyone but will say that those of you who love your music give it a go, you know you want to, so do it and have fun!

I loved Bat Out Of Hell, my boyfriend at the time bought it for me and I thought it was the most romantic gesture ever! My tastes in romantic gestures have matured somewhat now!

It's odd looking back at songs that you haven't heard for years and the memories they conjour up! Also, how come I can remember most of the words but can't remember what I walked upstairs for??!!

The year that I turned 18 I was already expecting baby number one. I can't think of one single song that would make me misty eyed...Now, I can go back to when I was 17,16, and maybe even 15, but 18..not so much. Just can't think of one.
