Phobias

A few phobias for you:

Aedificatorphobia - fear of builders - symptoms include a tendancy to live among rubble and communicate via a third party.

Bulliphobia - fear of not having the remote control - a male disease symptoms include Dead Man's Hand, where the hand invlountarily flaps for the remote at the first sign of an advert, endless flicking and taking the remote into the kitchen.

Carpenasophobia - fear that people can see you picking your nose! This is now totally eradicated among motorists.

Diveruphobia - fear of admiting the truth - a middle aged man desperate to appear youthful by wearing inappropiate clothing and using street language - even though he works in insurance - is a diveruphobe.

Exercitophobia - fear of excercise - common side effect is expert knowledge of how a sport should be played, financed, managed and run, from the ground upwards - partuculary football.

Fortunophobia - fear of your numbers coming up on the lottery if you don't play - only one way to treat this and that is with a prescription reading: "Take £1, each week to the lottery shop."

Parvocoquophobia - fear of eating at motorway service stations - this translates loosley as "fear of the little chef"

Hebdomaphobia - fear of Sunday evenings - or simply thoughts of Monday morning.

Gyrosaccophobia - fear of baggage retrieval systems - this phobia has three fears in one. Normal gyrosaccophobes fear that their luggage will not appear, some fear their luggage is not up to scratch and they are ashamed of it. More common is gyrosaccophobia proterva - fear of coming forward when your baggage comes aloong.

Obsoletophobia - fear that everyone has a better mobile (cell phone) than you!

Quisquiliaphobia - fear of junk mail.

Sapophobia - fear of watching soaps - they say they don't like a certain soap, yet they fear that, if they watch it, they will get hooked.

Senecophobia - fear of growing old.

So there you have it!
